Primary text
The infant male must be shrouded in a single piece of cloth (*khirqah*). Ahmad, Ishaq, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, al-Thawri, and the companions of Abu Hanifa affirm this. There is no dispute among them that one garment suffices. Shrouding the infant in three cloths is permissible because the male infant resembles the adult male.
