In what order should the obligatory (Fard) prayer and the funeral prayer (Janazah) be performed when both become due simultaneously?

Primary text
When the funeral prayer and an obligatory prescribed prayer (Maktubah) become due, the obligatory prayer must precede the funeral prayer. This applies to all obligatory prayers except Fajr and Asr. This ruling is based on the principle that the time following Fajr and Asr is a time prohibited for general prayer, making it preferable to initiate the Maktubah first to avoid falling into the prohibited time frame. This position is stated by Ahmad, Ibn Sirin, Mujahid, Hasan, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, and Qatadah.

Some scholars, including Mujahid, Hasan, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, and Qatadah, argue for beginning with the Maktubah because it is more important and less time-consuming, whereas the affairs of the funeral prayer can prolong the commitment, potentially leading to missing the Maktubah time entirely. If one performs the funeral prayer first and then waits for the Maktubah to finish, delaying the Maktubah would not constitute a preferred sequence.
