Primary text
The deceased is to be placed lying down in the shroud for easier wrapping. More perfume should be placed near the head than the feet. Perfume is applied to the face, the places of prostration, and the folds of the body, mimicking how the living apply perfume. The remaining Hanoot and camphor are placed in cotton. A portion is gently placed between the buttocks, in greater quantity to absorb any discharge upon movement. A torn cloth, like a simple breechcloth (Siraweel without sleeves), is placed over this. The remainder is placed over the facial orifices—the mouth, nostrils, and eyes—to prevent any discharge. This is also done for penetrating wounds, leaving a portion on the sites of prostration as they are noble limbs.
