What is the permissible extent to which a grave should be raised above the ground?

Primary text
The grave should not be raised more than the soil that was removed during its excavation. Ahmad declared this explicitly. This is evidenced by the narration from Uqbah ibn Amir, stating that no more soil should be placed on the grave than what came out when it was dug. Jabir also reported that the Messenger of Allah forbade adding more to the grave than its excavated space. Raising the grave should only be a slight elevation, based on the Prophet's command to Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, saying: 'Do not leave an idol except that you obliterate it, nor a raised grave except that you level it' (reported by Muslim and others). The term 'raised' (mushrif) refers to that which is raised significantly, as clarified by Al-Qasim’s description of the Prophet's grave and those of his two companions: neither highly raised nor leveled with the ground.
