Primary text

The possibility that the Earth was folded for the Prophet, peace be upon him, allowing him to see the funeral is rejected because it was not narrated. If this were the case, it would have been reported. Furthermore, the principle is to follow the Prophet's example unless there is proof specifying exclusivity to him. Moreover, prayer upon a distant deceased is not permissible even if seen, and if the Prophet had seen him, the prayer would have been exclusive to him, yet the Prophet led the general congregation in prayer.
