Primary text

If impurity exits the natural passages after the third washing, the washing must continue up to five. If it exits after the fifth, it continues up to seven. Wudu must be repeated in the washing that immediately follows the excretion of impurity. Imam Ahmad stated that Wudu is performed once unless something exits, in which case it is repeated, and the washing continues up to seven.

Supporting text

Abu al-Khattab preferred washing only the spot of impurity and performing Wudu without repeating the entire washing, aligning with the view of Malik and Abu Hanifa, who argue that excretion by a living person after Ghusl does not invalidate it. The counter-argument is that the goal of washing the deceased is complete final purity, likened to the mandatory Ghusl upon a living person who loses consciousness.
