What is recommended when visiting a sick person?

When one enters upon a sick person, supplication and recitation of *ruqyah* (spiritual healing invocations) are recommended. An example of the *ruqyah* of the Messenger of Allah includes the supplication: 'O Allah, Lord of mankind, remover of harm, grant healing, for You are the Healer; a healing that leaves behind no ailment.' Another established *ruqyah* involves the invocation: 'In the Name of Allah, I perform *ruqyah* upon you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul and the envious eye, Allah heals you.' Both these narrations regarding *ruqyah* are confirmed as authentic by Abu Zur'ah.
