Primary text

Covering the grave of a man with a cloth is disliked (Makruh). This is supported by the actions of 'Ali, who removed a cloth placed over a grave, stating such practice is reserved for women. Similarly, 'Abdullah ibn Anas insisted on removing a cloth covering a grave in the presence of his father, citing the established practice for women's graves. Furthermore, leaving the grave uncovered makes it easier to avoid resembling women in practice, adhering to the Sunnah of the Companions, such as 'Ali and Anas.

Some scholars, including 'Abdullah ibn Yazid, disliked the covering. However, the Companions of Ra'y and Abu Thawr did not dislike it. The view favoring exposure is considered stronger due to the actions of 'Ali and Anas, which indicate dislike.
