What is the ruling if a deceased person is buried without a shroud?

If the deceased is buried without a shroud, one view holds that the body remains as interred because the purpose of the shroud, which is covering, has been achieved by the earth. Another view mandates exhumation for proper shrouding because shrouding is obligatory, analogous to the ritual washing (ghusl).
