It is disliked (*makruh*) to sit or lean upon graves. This prohibition is established by the tradition where the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stated, "Do not sit upon graves, and do not pray facing them." Furthermore, it is better for one to sit upon a burning ember that sears his clothes and reaches his skin than to sit upon a grave, according to the narration from Abu Hurairah, which is recorded by Muslim. Additionally, it is narrated that the Prophet, peace be upon him, upon seeing a man leaning on a grave, said, "Do not harm the occupant of the grave."
