Primary text

Walking upon graves is disliked (*yukrahu*). This prohibition is established through the statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, where he forbade treading upon graves. Evidence supporting this includes the narration recorded by Ibn Majah where the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stated that walking upon a Muslim's grave is more beloved to him than walking upon hot coals, a sword, or stuffing his sandal sole with his foot. Furthermore, it is stated that he would prefer to relieve himself in the marketplace than walk among graves.

Supporting text

Since walking between the graves wearing sandals is disliked, walking directly upon them is even more deserving of being disliked.
