Primary text
The gift, release (Ibra'), or forgiveness of a debt owed by someone is valid. Consequently, the debtor is absolved of the liability. This action does not require acceptance from the debtor because it is a type of discharge, which does not necessitate acceptance, similar to the discharge of retaliation (Qisas), the right of preemption (Shuf'ah), the hadd punishment for slander (Qadhf), manumission (A'taq), and divorce (Talaq).
