Can a person revoke a gift made in the capacity of charity (*sadaqah*)?

All scholars agree that a person cannot revoke their charity (*sadaqah*). This is based on the report from 'Umar in his hadith: "Whoever gives a gift in the capacity of charity, he does not revoke it." The evidence supporting this consensus is that the evidence for both parties converges, leading to agreement in the legal ruling.
