The explicit wording suggests a generality applying to everything that is measured or weighed. However, later scholars among our jurists restricted this rule to items that are not designated (ghayr muta'ayyin), such as a measure (qafiz) taken from a pile (sabra) or a unit (ratl) of butter. Nevertheless, the general application is preferred based on the apparent meaning.
