Breaking the egg of hunted game does not prohibit a lawful person from eating it because its permissibility is not contingent upon the breaking action.

The Qadi ruled that it becomes unlawful for a lawful person to eat, analogous to the slaughtering of game, because breaking the egg serves as a substitute for slaughtering, evidenced by the fact that its consumption becomes lawful for a Muhrim if a lawful person breaks it for him.
