Primary text

The obligation regarding the Hady is only discharged through its slaughter (*dhabh*) or necking (*nahr*). This is established because the Prophet, peace be upon him, performed *nahr* on his Hady. If the person offering the sacrifice performs the slaughter or necking himself, or appoints an agent to do so, the obligation is fulfilled. Furthermore, if another person performs the slaughter or necking with the offerer's permission during the prescribed time, it suffices for him. If the animal is handed over intact to the poor, and they slaughter it, it is sufficient for the offerer because the objective (the sacrifice) was achieved through their action, just as if another person had slaughtered it with permission.
