What actions should be performed at Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram after the Fajr prayer?
Chapter on the Description of Hajj
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
After performing the Fajr prayer, one must stand at Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram, which is Qazah. If possible, one should ascend it; otherwise, one stands at its base, remembers Allah, supplicates to Him, and strives in devotion, based on the verse, "And when you have departed from Arāfah, remember Allah at Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram," (Quran 2:198). The Prophet stood upon it, praised Allah, glorified Him, uttered Tahlil and Takbir, and supplicated. It is recommended that the supplication includes: 'O Allah, just as You stood us here and showed it to us, grant us success in remembering You as You have guided us, forgive us, and have mercy on us, as You promised us in Your saying, and Your true saying: {Then let them proceed from where the people proceed, and ask forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful},' (Quran 2:199). One should remain standing there until it is very bright (Isfarar Jiddan), as Jabir narrated that the Prophet remained standing until it was very bright.
