Is assisting in hunting permissible?

Assisting in hunting is forbidden for a person under the prohibition of engaging in it himself. This ruling is established based on the consensus of the Companions regarding the prohibition of assistance. Evidence is found in the consensus regarding the refusal of the Companions to assist the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he requested assistance after forgetting his whip and spear, as narrated by Abu Qatada in the consensus narrations. The Prophet (peace be upon him) affirmed their refusal. This prohibition is derived from the principle that assisting in a forbidden act is itself forbidden, analogous to assisting in the murder of a human being.
