What constitutes the necessary provisions (زاد) that mandate performing Hajj or Umrah?
General Chapter

Book of Hajj
Primary text
The necessary provision required for the obligation of travel (Hajj or Umrah) is what is needed for the round trip, including food, drink, and clothing. If one possesses these necessities, or finds them available for purchase at the market price during times of high or low cost, or for a slight increase that does not deplete one's wealth, purchasing them becomes obligatory. If the cost would deplete one's wealth, purchasing them is not obligatory, similar to the ruling on purchasing water for ablution.
