Is the continuation and frequent recitation of the Talbiyah recommended under all circumstances?
Chapter on Mentioning Ihram
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
It is recommended to continuously recite the Talbiyah frequently under all circumstances, such as when groups meet, when one forgets covering their head, and after the obligatory prayers. Evidence for this is the narration from Ibn Majah, where the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "No Muslim performs the sacrifice (for Allah) reciting the Talbiyah until the sun sets, except that his sins set with it, and he returns as the day his mother bore him." The recommendation is even stronger in specific situations mentioned by Al-Kharqi.
Supporting text
The recommendation to recite the Talbiyah after obligatory prayers, when descending a valley, ascending a height, meeting a rider, and when one's mount stabilizes, is strongly supported by the practice of the predecessors, as indicated by the statement of Ibrahim Al-Nakha'i, who said they recommended it after obligatory prayer, when descending a valley, ascending a height, meeting a rider, and when the mount became steady. Al-Shafi'i holds this view as well. Previously, one held the opinion similar to Malik, stating one should not recite Talbiyah when groups converge, but the statement of Al-Nakha'i indicates that the Salaf recommended it.
