Primary text

The view holds that whoever abandons or forgets a part of his rites of pilgrimage must offer a sacrifice (Dam), based on the statement attributed to Ibn Abbas. However, the view requiring a Dirham (coin) for every pebble thrown is rejected as an unfounded ruling lacking textual basis.

Supporting text

There are three narrations regarding the required expiation for leaving less than three nights of Mabit. Ata stated that for every pebble thrown, a Dirham is due, which is the position of Al-Shafi'i.
