If one performs the ritual stoning on the Day of Sacrifice without pausing, the first obligatory act is the slaughtering of the Hady (sacrificial animal), whether it is obligatory or voluntary. If one owes an obligatory Hady but does not have one, they must purchase one for slaughter. If no obligatory Hady is owed but one desires to offer a voluntary sacrifice, they should purchase what they intend to offer, slaughtering camels while they are standing and other animals by cutting their throats. It is preferable to perform the slaughter personally, though appointing an agent is permissible. This is the view of Malik, Al-Shafi'i, Abu Thawr, and the Ashab al-Ra'y. This is evidenced by the narration of Jabir regarding the Prophet's Hajj, where he proceeded to the place of slaughter after throwing stones from the valley floor and slaughtered sixty-three camels, sharing the remaining portion with 'Ali.
