Primary text

If a lawful hunter shoots game outside the Haram (in the Hill), wounds it, and the game manages to enter the Haram and dies there, the meat is permissible to eat, and no liability (Jaza') is due. This is because the act of slaughter (dhakat) occurred in the Hill, resembling the case where one wounds game and then enters the state of Ihram (consecration for Hajj/Umrah), and the game dies afterward.

Supporting text

It is disliked (Makruh) to eat the meat because its death occurred within the sacred precinct.
