What garments must a person entering Ihram wear?
Chapter on Mentioning Ihram
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
A person must enter Ihram wearing an Izar (waist wrapper) and a Rida' (upper garment) and sandals, as established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). If sandals are unavailable, one may wear khuffayn (leather socks). A person in Ihram is prohibited from wearing anything tailored to the body's shape, such as a shirt or trousers, which refers to garments sewn to fit the body part they cover.
