Can a husband prevent his wife from performing voluntary Hajj (Hajj al-Tatawwu')?

A husband has the right to prevent his wife from undertaking a voluntary Hajj. There is a consensus among the scholars known that a husband may forbid his wife from leaving for voluntary Hajj. This is because the husband's rights are obligatory (*wajib*), and she is not permitted to neglect these obligations for something that is not obligatory, similar to the relationship between a master and his slave.
