Is immediate succession (Muwalah) required between the Tawaf and the Sa'y?

Immediate succession between the Tawaf and the Sa'y is not obligatory. Ahmad permits delaying the Sa'y until the individual rests or until the afternoon (al-'ashiy). Ata and Al-Hasan did not object to someone performing Tawaf in the early part of the day and delaying the Sa'y until the afternoon, as practiced by Al-Qasim and Sa'id ibn Jubayr. This is reasoned because if immediacy is not required within the Sa'y itself, it is even less required between the Tawaf and the Sa'y.
