Chapter on the Description of Hajj

Primary text
If the pilgrim fasts any portion of the three days before assuming Ihram for Hajj, it is valid. This was explicitly stated. However, performing the three days is preferred to be completed during the Hajj rites.

A narration exists allowing precedence of the Hady over Hajj Ihram, suggesting parity with the fast. However, precedence of the fast over the Ihram for Umrah is not permissible. No proponent for its permissibility is known except for a weak narration transmitted by some of our companions from Ahmad, which is considered nothing because the fast cannot precede its cause and obligation, contradicting the consensus of the scholars.
