It is impermissible by consensus (Ijma) for a person upon whom the obligatory Hajj (Hajj al-Islam) is incumbent and who is capable of performing it to appoint another person to perform it on their behalf. This ruling applies equally to a vowed Hajj (Hajj Manthur) because both are obligatory pilgrimages. This prohibition on proxy due to ability is supported by the consensus of the scholars, as documented by Ibn al-Mundhir.
