It is permissible for a woman to perform the Hajj by proxy for a man. This is the position held by the general body of scholars.
Supporting text
Hasan ibn Salih disliked a woman performing Hajj on behalf of a man. Ibn al-Mundhir considered this view a neglect of the apparent meaning of the Sunnah, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded a woman to perform Hajj for her father.
