Is it prescribed to kiss the Yemeni corner during Tawaf?
Chapter on Mentioning Hajj and Entering Makkah
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
Kissing the Yemeni corner is not established as Sunnah from the Prophet (peace be upon him). While some scholars mention it was permissible according to Ibn al-Barr, the correct position, affirmed by Ahmad, is that it should not be kissed. Consensus exists among scholars regarding the Istilam (touching) of both the Black Stone and the Yemeni corner; the difference lies only in the kissing.
Supporting text
A narration attributed to Mujahid from Ibn Abbas, stating the Prophet (peace be upon him) kissed the corner and placed his right cheek upon it, is deemed invalid. Kissing is only authentically established for the Black Stone.
