It is preferable to mention the name of the person represented during the Talbiyah. Ahmad stated that if one is performing Hajj for a man, one should begin the Talbiyah by saying, "For so-and-so," and then need not repeat it afterward. This is based on the Prophet's command to the one whose Talbiyah was heard on behalf of Shibrimah: "Perform Talbiyah for yourself, then perform Talbiyah for Shibrimah." Evidence for the general practice is derived from the command to perform Talbiyah first for oneself, then for the intended person.
