The narration narrated by Taus is considered mursal (a broken chain of narration where the Successor narrates directly from the Prophet). Al-Shafi'i does not rely upon isolated mursal narrations, making it inconsistent for him to adopt this position given its solitary nature while contradicting widely transmitted and agreed-upon reports.
