Primary text

For every pebble thrown at the first and second Jamarat, the pilgrim should say Takbir, then move forward, supplicate long with raised hands (as narrated by Ibn Umar), and face the Qibla. The basis for this is the narration of Aisha, stating the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood long and supplicated at the first and second Jumarat but did not stand at the third. Ibn Umar narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would stand long, raise his hands, and supplicate after the first and second Jumarat. Supplications narrated from Ibn Umar and Ibn Mas'ud include saying: 'O Allah, make it an accepted Hajj and a forgiven sin.' One narration suggests Ibn Umar stood at the two Jumarat for the duration it takes to recite Surah Al-Baqarah.

Supporting text

It is narrated that Ibn Umar would supplicate with the same supplication used at Arafah, with the addition: 'And perfect our rituals for us.' Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, and Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid were known to raise their hands while throwing pebbles at the Jamarat and prolonging their standing.
