What is the merit of performing Umrah during Ramadan?

Performing Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj. This ruling is supported by the statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, narrated by Ibn Abbas. Ahmad interpreted this to mean that whoever experiences even one day of Ramadan has experienced the Umrah of Ramadan, similar to the interpretation regarding the recitation of Surah Al-Ikhlas equaling one-third of the Quran.
