Primary text

One utterance of the Talbiyah (Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk) after the obligatory prayer is sufficient. This is because the reported Sunnah mandates the Talbiyah generally, without specification of a number, which is fulfilled by a single utterance. This ruling is analogous to the *Takbir* (Allahu Akbar) uttered after prayers during the days of Eid al-Adha and the days of Tashriq. Furthermore, exceeding one utterance is permissible as it constitutes an increase in remembrance of Allah and good deeds.

Supporting text

Repeating the Talbiyah three times after prayer, which is commonly practiced by the general populace, is a good practice because Allah loves the odd number (Al-Witr).
