What is the prescribed end time for the Tawaf al-Ifadah?
Chapter on the Description of Hajj
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
The correct position is that the final time for performing the Tawaf al-Ifadah is not limited by a specific boundary. If the pilgrim performs the Tawaf at any time after its start, the Tawaf is valid without dispute. The debate centers only on whether a penalty sacrifice (Dam) is obligatory for performing it outside the limited period.
Supporting text
The argument for having a limited end time is that since the Tawaf is a ritual performed during Hajj, it should have a time limit, similar to the Standing (Waqf) and Stoning (Ramy). However, Standing and Stoning are rituals whose time, if missed, causes them to lapse entirely, which is not the case for the Tawaf, as it remains valid whenever performed.
