Primary text
The pilgrim throws seventy pebbles in total: seven on the Day of Sacrifice after sunrise, and twenty-one pebbles on each of the three Days of Tashreeq after the sun passes its zenith. On the first day (the farthest Jamarat from Mecca, near Masjid al-Khaif), the pilgrim faces the Qibla, making it on his left side, throws seven pebbles while saying Takbir with each, then moves to a place where pebbles do not strike him, stands long in supplication with raised hands, then moves to the middle Jamarat, making it on his right side, repeats the stoning, standing, and supplicating. Finally, he throws seven pebbles at the Jamarat al-Aqaba while facing the Qibla from the bottom of the valley (batn al-wadi), and does not stop there to supplicate. This comprehensive method is agreed upon.

Al-Malik (Imam Malik) held that there is no prescribed position for raising the hands during supplication. Ahmad strongly affirmed the necessity of standing long in supplication at the first and second Jamarat, facing the Qibla, and throwing the pebbles in the valley floor.
