Is the purchase of female slaves permissible for a person in the state of Ihram, irrespective of the intention behind the purchase?
Chapter on What the Muhrim Must Avoid and What is Permissible for Him

Book of Hajj
Primary text
The purchase of female slaves is permissible, whether the intention was specifically for purchase or not. There is no known disagreement on this matter. This is because purchasing a female slave is not an act intended for the permissibility of sexual intercourse ('Istibaha fil-Bidh'), thus it resembles purchasing slaves or animals. This is further evidenced by the permissibility of purchasing women with whom intercourse is currently forbidden, meaning the prohibition on intercourse in Ihram does not extend to the act of purchasing.
