Chapter on the Description of Hajj

Al-Mughni

Book of Hajj

Book 11 · Issue 8 · Bab 5

Open in Qurani

Primary text

It is recommended to engage extensively in the remembrance of Allah (Dhikr) and supplication (Du'a) on the Day of Arafah, as it is a day where answers to prayers are hoped for. For this reason, breaking the fast is preferred that day to strengthen one for supplication, even though fasting it equals two years of voluntary fasting otherwise. Allah frees more servants from the Fire on the Day of Arafah than on any other day, drawing near and boasting about the pilgrims to the Angels.

Supporting text

It is recommended to supplicate using the established prophetic supplications (Ma'thur), such as repeating the testimony of Tawhid (La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lah...) and supplicating for guidance, piety, and forgiveness in this world and the next.
