Primary text

It is recommended to maintain tranquility, especially after departing Arafat, as this time is specifically designated for remembrance of Allah at the Sacred Monument (Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram), as indicated by the verse, "And when you have departed from Arāfah, remember Allah at Al-Mash'ar Al-Haram, and remember Him as He has guided you," (Quran 2:198). This period is emphasized for being conscious of obedience to Allah and engaging in His worship. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, moved at a steady pace, sometimes faster when there was space. Moving at the pace described as 'Anq' (a steady pace), with 'Nass' (a faster pace) utilized when space allowed, is the established Sunnah. Furthermore, Talbiyah (chanting the Talbiyah) is recommended during this time.

Supporting text

A group of scholars stated that one should not recite the Talbiyah. However, the established position is that the Prophet, peace be upon him, continued reciting the Talbiyah until he performed the stoning of the Jamrah, and Ibn Mas'ud was observed increasing his recitation, saying, 'Labbayka 'adada turab' (I am at your service by the number of pebbles).
