What is required of a person who performs Hajj on behalf of another but had not yet performed their own obligatory Hajj?

If it is established that the Hajj performed for another by someone who has not completed their own obligatory Hajj is invalid, then the performer must return any expenses received for that undertaking, as it is equivalent to them not having performed any Hajj at all.
