The requirement of possessing a riding animal is specific to the long journey (Al-Ba'eed) that spans the distance necessitating the shortening of the prayer (Qasr). For a short distance where walking is possible, the existence of a riding animal is not required, as the obligation to walk applies, similar to walking to Friday prayer.
