Chapter on the Description of Hajj

Al-Mughni

Book of Hajj

Book 11 · Issue 3 · Bab 5

Open in Qurani

Primary text

The final time for the stoning is the end of the days of Tashreeq. If one departs before performing the stoning, the time has passed, and the expiation required for abandoning the stoning becomes obligatory. This is the opinion of the majority of the scholars.

Supporting text

It is narrated from 'Ata concerning one who stoned Jamrat al-'Aqaba, then went to his camels on the night of the fourteenth, and then stoned before the rising of the dawn, that if he had not stoned, he would owe a blood sacrifice (dham). However, the first opinion is preferred because the daytime is the proper time for stoning, and the time for stoning expires with the departure of the day.
