What is the ruling if one declares Ihram by referring to another's Ihram, but knows what the referred person intended?
Chapter on Mentioning Ihram
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
If the person declaring Ihram knows precisely what the referred person (Fulan) intended (e.g., Hajj or Umrah, and whether they brought the sacrificial animal), then the declaration is valid, and the Ihram takes the exact ruling of the referred person's Ihram. This is established by the Prophet's (PBUH) subsequent questioning of Ali regarding his specific statement upon assuming Ihram.
