What is the ruling on performing Rami while riding or walking?

Chapter on the Description of Hajj

Al-Mughni

Primary text

One may perform the Rami while riding or walking, as one chooses. The Prophet, peace be upon him, performed the Rami on his mount on the Day of Sacrifice. This is evidenced by narrations from Jabir, Ibn Umar, and Umm Abi Al-Ahwas, among others, where the Prophet commanded, 'Take your rituals from me, for perhaps I will not perform Hajj after this Hajj of mine.'

Supporting text

Ibn Umar used to throw Jamrat al-'Aqabah on his animal on the Day of Sacrifice, but he would only approach the remaining Jamarat walking, both going and returning. This implies a distinction because starting the Rami on the Day of Sacrifice while riding facilitates hastening to it upon arrival, whereas for the others, walking is Sunnah.
