What is the ruling on the pilgrim facing the Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad) with only part of his body?
Chapter on Mentioning Hajj and Entering Makkah
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
There is a possibility that facing the Black Stone with only part of the body suffices, because this ruling relates to the body, and partial fulfillment is accepted in such matters, similar to prescribed punishments (hadd). The Prophet, peace be upon him, faced the Stone with his entire body and touched it, implying full body facing. That which requires facing necessitates the entire body facing, akin to the direction of prayer (Qiblah).
Supporting text
There is a possibility that it does not suffice because the Prophet, peace be upon him, faced the Stone with his entire body, and what requires facing requires the entire body, like the Qiblah.
