What is the ruling for a pilgrim performing Hajj who is accompanied by a sacrificial animal (Hady)?
Chapter on Mentioning Hajj and Entering Makkah
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
A pilgrim who is accompanied by a sacrificial animal (Hady) must remain in the state of Ihram and join the Hajj with their Umrah, not completing the ritual until they exit both states simultaneously. This is the established position of Ahmad and the view of Abu Hanifah. The primary evidence is the Hadith narrated by Aisha during the Farewell Pilgrimage, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, instructed those with Hady to enter Hajj with their Umrah and not exit until both are completed. Furthermore, the Hadith of Hafsa confirms this, stating the Prophet did not exit his Umrah until he sacrificed his Hady.

One narration attributed to Ahmad permits the pilgrim to shorten the hair on their head only, without touching their nails or mustache. This view is also attributed to Ibn Umar and 'Ata', supported by the Hadith where Mu'awiyah trimmed the Prophet's hair at the Safa with an arrow head.
