What is the ruling regarding a dam incumbent upon one who intentionally postpones the obligatory Hady past its time without an excuse?
Chapter on the Description of Hajj
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
If he postpones the Hady without an excuse, there are two narrations. One is that only making up the Hady is required, like other Hady sacrifices. The other is that he owes another Hady because it is a time-bound ritual, so the dam becomes due for postponing it past its time, like the stoning of the Jamarat. Ahmad said: Whoever performs Tamattu' but does not offer the Hady until the following year, owes two Hady sacrifices, as Ibn Abbas stated.
