What is the ruling regarding the expiation (Fidya) for hair that falls out due to an affliction (Khalal)?
Chapter on Ransom (Fidyah) and Penalty for Hunting
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
If a hair falls out due to an affliction, no expiation is due if the hair was dead. If the hair was growing hair, then expiation is required. If there is doubt as to whether the hair was dead or growing, no expiation is due, because the default state is the negation of liability until certainty is established.
