What is the ruling regarding one who delays the stoning past sunset on the Day of Sacrifice?
Chapter on the Description of Hajj
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
If the stoning is delayed past sunset on the Day of Sacrifice, it must be deferred until the sun passes its zenith (Zawal) the following day. This position is held by Abu Hanifa and Ishaq. The evidence cited is the statement of Ibn Umar that whoever misses the stoning until sunset should not throw until the sun passes its zenith the next day, and that the statement 'Throw, and there is no harm' referred to the daylight hours of the Day of Sacrifice.
